From Lisa · Mentors, friends & inspiration
The friendships behind
the inspiration.
Design develops through relationships as well as projects. These are some of the connections, conversations and shared moments that have helped shape our work.
Johnny Grey · Kitchen design
A kitchen is
a room for living.
Johnny Grey is one of the designers Lisa has looked to for inspiration. His work considers the kitchen as a place for everyday life, bringing practical planning together with comfort and sociability.
That interest in how a room is used is close to our own approach: where you sit, how you move and how a kitchen brings everyone together.

Mentors who encourage
you to look further.
Renée Mascari is Lisa’s mentor and a very good friend. Their conversations about neurodiversity and how a kitchen is experienced connect with Lisa’s wider interest in light, air quality and wellbeing. Renée brings experience in design, education and art; Colin Wong’s work has been a particular inspiration for some of Hannah’s kitchen island designs.
Hannah develops those influences through her own designs, shaping each island around its room, materials and how it will be used.
Islands as pieces of art
“When at KBB, Colin Wong had done a series of islands based on them being art pieces rather than just functional islands. And his whole theory is that islands should be pieces of art and more like art installations and sculptures rather than just plain boring square boxes that get plonked in the middle of a room.”
Renée’s artwork · Ash House
A personal connection.
A place in the home.
Renée’s creativity also finds expression in her painting. Here she is with Hannah and the artwork that now hangs at Ash House.
In the finished room, the painting sits above the dark, angular console, with ribbed panelling and soft lighting behind it. The artwork gives the space a personal story as well as colour and character.

SBID Awards · 2024
Part of a wider
design community.
A moment from the 2024 SBID Awards, with Lisa and Dr Vanessa Brady OBE, founder of the Society of British & International Interior Design.
Alongside the projects and studio displays, these occasions are part of Kuche & Bagno’s story: time spent with fellow designers and colleagues who champion the profession.

Conversations
that stay with you.
Time spent with fellow designers is another part of our story. This photograph brings together Lisa, Johnny Grey, Colin Wong, Vanessa Brady, Vanessa’s daughter and fellow guests.
Vanessa is the founder of the Society of British & International Interior Design, of which Lisa is a member. These connections keep the conversation about design moving.
Designer Awards · 2018
A moment
worth remembering.
Our Rugby studio won Show Space Design of the Year at the D Awards 2018. The photographs bring back the faces and celebrations around that milestone.

What would make
your home feel like you?
A favourite artwork, a way of gathering or a detail you have always loved can be the beginning of a room.
