A closer look at the details that travel beyond the project.

When a brand shares our work, it gives us another way to tell the story behind a room. Here, we follow Acquabella’s feature through Ash House.

One home / A conversation in materials

Ash House,
through Acquabella’s eyes.

A home designed by Hannah Davidson and Lisa Melvin, with materials and details considered together. Acquabella’s feature credits Kuche & Bagno and explores the surfaces used across the entrance and bathrooms.

Here are some of our own project photographs: the wider rooms, the closer details and the thinking that connects them.

01 / Concealed within the surface

A doorway
becomes part of the wall.

Hera panelling in Negro travels from the hallway walls across the ceiling. Doors to the powder room and laundry sit within that continuous finish.

The handle is a small detail in a much larger composition. Follow the lines and you begin to see how the practical parts of the house have been brought together.

A change of scale.
The whole space, then the detail.

02 / Colour with a purpose

A blue thread
through the bathroom.

In the boys’ bathroom, blue Acquabella panels and a matching shower tray connect with the colour picked from the terrazzo-effect tiles. Pale panels give the more animated surfaces room to breathe.

The room has a playful character, with the finish choices considered as one palette.

Blue accents and terrazzo-effect surfaces give the boys’ bathroom its own character.

Colour, texture
and the light between them.

03 / An invitation to look closer

Stone, light
and a quieter backdrop.

At the entrance, Hera panelling in Nacar sits behind a floating African Fusion granite console. Integrated light picks out the profile and the contrast between the surfaces.

Seeing the complete setting and a close detail together helps explain how much a small change in texture can bring to a room.
