CONIFER WELLNESS SUITE

PROJECT BRIEF

We worked very closely with our client Sarah to help with the reconfiguration of the east wing of the family home to create one large master suite to include for dressing area, wellness suite along with the sleeping quarters, and two further bedrooms including a Jack & Jill style bathroom accessed from both bedrooms.

The existing configuration comprised of the large master bedroom, family bathroom, office, two further bedrooms and shower room.

Within the new master suite we looked at the possibilities for an area to work as a home office, but concluded a quiet wellness suite to relax, unwind, chill and contemplate free from the pollution of technology and the outside world would be by far more beneficial and an ideal area to disconnect from the outside world.

The wellness suite was designed with a nod to Japanese daily bathing rituals, with a very large walk-in shower with a drying area to avoid wetness, a sliding opaque privacy screen in a traditional Japanese style opens to reveal a tranquil space with a double wash bowl configuration.

The whole concept of the room was built around a Duravit Whirltub spa bath which would be built within a specially-made window so one could look out over the paddock whilst bathing in true Japanese fashion.

Using a bathtub cover, the concept was to transform the bath into a practical storage area and relaxation deck.

However project constraints meant that the bathtub had to be excluded from the design but this does not detract from the look which was achieved.

Sarah’s colour scheme included dramatic painted black walls which are a perfect backdrop to showcase the designer metallic champagne matching radiators and teams beautifully with the large format porcelain floor tiles.

The look was completed by the beautiful Balterio herringbone style laminate flooring throughout the master suite which lends a real heritage feel.

We located the restroom which is accessed through a pocket door, complete with wall hung WC furniture and basin closer to the sleeping quarters.
